Aviation & Airport Management graduate, Layla Sulyman Jafiya, credits Bedfordshire with equipping her with essential skills needed for the industry…

I pursued a degree in Aviation & Airport Management and graduated in 2023. I chose this course because of my passion for aviation and my desire to contribute to the industry's growth and innovation.

My favourite part was the University's proximity to London, which offered a vibrant and diverse environment.

My time at Bedfordshire was instrumental in my development. I had an exceptional lecturer, Dr Ioana Stoica, who served as a mentor. She guided me through challenges, conducted research to support me when she didn't have immediate answers, and encouraged me to persevere when I felt like giving up.

I am the founder of HerAviation and a student pilot. My involvement in various marketing events and competitions during my time at Bedfordshire equipped me with essential skills. I also built strong relationships with staff across different departments, seeking advice and learning from diverse perspectives.

One of my significant career highlights is leading HerAviation, an initiative focused on educating and empowering African women to pursue careers in aviation and business.

Trust your instincts, but also consider the future and your ultimate goals. Ask yourself if the industry aligns with your career aspirations and financial objectives. Always keep your end goal in mind when making your decision.
